Highlights: Mumbai visit, Being Mindful, Simple life, Google, Randomness and I did not spend too much time on Insta! Yes!

Last week I travelled to Mumbai to attend friends wedding.

Reached Mumbai and got to stay in a hotel in Dadar, one of the most prime location there. First day was a cocktail party that I still regret missing. This day was Haldi, they threw it in Bandra. The celebration included Haldi obviously and also a mix of mahendi and sangeet. Everyone had a great time, everyone participated in the dance and even mahendi literally. After which we went to Nariman Point. I always imagined sitting beside ocean and gazing the skyline and the stars. And finally I got a chance to experience it. And then we had ice-cream at sukh sagar, which is also very famous around there.

Next day was the main event, the Shaadi. Which included Baarat, and lots of Pheras. This was my first time attending a Maharashtrian wedding and loved how simple and convenient it was. And the couple did an amazing job organizing this event. They know how to throw a party. Following up was reception, and it was a grand event.

By the next day I was completely in love with the local Dadar market just beside the hotel and started with shopping, having breakfast as Vada pav from this shop! It had the most amazing Vada pav.

Tastiest Vada pav.

I also have to mention the kali pili which is the best mode of transport around the city. It so convenient and cheap. And it always has fixed rate, and the driver know their way around Mumbai, trust me anyone else would have lots of fine on them. After which I started with visiting the Crawford market.

On Sunday, the market only had food stalls available and upon asking the shopkeepers on what to visit they directed me towards this section. The pet shop. And this was depressing. I wanted to run around and open all of these. I never forget the place I am coming from, where all the birds directly visit my garden. And seeing any animal in cage, here so many in a congested one. Just breaks my heart. And you don’t even have to come from a township to see how heartbreaking this is.

I forgot to tell you, I am prepping myself up for solo trips, and would have gone to one by now, but as I also wanted to attend these weddings, I took extra day just to explore the place on my own. So the next cab I got, the driver was too kind, to offer me a trip around the city, and I took it. I saw gateway of India, Taj hotel, colaba market, Oberoi hotel. I was surprised to see hanging garden exist in this place. A good garden to walk and spend time in the middle of the city.

I then went to Girgaon Chawpatty where I saw the ocean for sometime and had pav bhaji. I saw Worli sealink, Mannat, Galaxy apartment. If you don’t know what that is, do you even deserve to take a trip around Mumbai. 😛 Kidding, its Shahrukh’s and Salman Bhai’s houses respectively.

I did this in a company of a true fan! And a secret, I don’t regret this.

I saw Bandra market, Ajay Devgan’s house and Big B’s house, on a Sunday evening, which by chance was the day that he comes out on and meets his fan’s in the evening. The Juhu beach was highly disappointing because of the complete smell in that area. But a café called bora bora was nice. The view, ambience and food were amazing.

So that how the trip ended, with me picking up my stuff, reaching the airport, gulping down everything at the lounge, posting of my trip on insta as I had lots of time while waiting for my flight. As a city I never really thought it would be this much fun. Mumbai you surprised me. And night owl should visit this place.

Gist: Closing the eyes in not the only way to be mindful. Unfortunately, most people live in constant inner chaos, clouded by stressors such as fear, anger, resentment, jealousy, or other negative emotions. Instead of allowing these emotions to control us, finding ways to give our mind clarity is important. Mental clarity is the ability to see things objectively and rationally rather than from a perspective of fear or anxiety. When you have mental clarity, you have an objective view of your own thoughts and actions. You are fully aware of the world around you, and you make conscious decisions as opposed to reacting to events. “Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves,” — Blaise Pascal. One can do so by establishing healthy boundaries with others or try taking a walk or getting up and stretching every 20 minutes. Stop multitasking. Schedule plenty of time for relaxing activities and experiences that make you lose yourself or come alive. Improving your sleep habits. A daily/weekly workout. Any activity or experience. Be more deliberate about how you spend your downtime.

Won’t it be nice to live a simpler life, where we find time and energy to do the things that matter the most to us. Essentialism: find out what matters to us and strip away all the rest. Books

This book generally talks about what makes Google special, and every great industry which has changed the course of history had a special work culture. Its a nice read even if one is not in the tech industry, just because it describes what a good culture should look like, being sustainable and productive.

Quote of the week

You are so kind! 😁

Multiple entries:

  1. Love is blind, loyalty is vision.
  2. A connection without emotional safety is just an attachment.
  3. Your problem is when people hurt you, you try to understand why.
  4. Life is not about expecting, hoping and wishing. It’s about doing, being and becoming.
  5. The easiest way to let go of any ego — be it academic or professional achievements, wealth or status, is to travel the world. The more you travel, the more you realize — NOBODY CARES. You are just a miniscule spec of dust in the world. And that by itself, makes you humble.

Until Next Week

I travelled to another wedding and this week the whole world got married. Let’s talk about that. And I am confused on what a good investment sounds like.
